Poha Recipe : Indian Breakfast

Poha is a very popular dish originally from the western part of India. Poha is a easy to make tasty to eat Indian breakfast, or a Indian snack. Poha are made from flattened rice (also called Beaten Rice). These beaten rice are spiced up with the a lots of ingredients to make it a final very tasty and spicy Indian dish.


Here is the Poha recipe:

Ingredients:


  • 200 gm Beaten Rice(Poha)
  • 1 cup boiled Green peas, carrot, potato and capsicum
  • 2 Onions, chopped
  • 3 Green chilies, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Black mustard seeds
  • 4-5 Curry leaves
  • 1/4 cups Peanuts 
  • 2 tsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tbsp freshly squeezed Lemon juice
  • Half a bunch Coriander/ Cilantro, chopped
  • 1/2 tbsp Sugar
  • Salt to taste
Preparation:
  • Soak the beaten rice in water and sieve in a bowl. Mix it with salt and turmeric powder and let it stay aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan, Splutter the curry leaves in it until dark.
  • Now, add Onion and Green Chili and fry them until golden brown.
  • Add the boiled vegetables and fry for a minute. Add the sieved beaten rice and mix well.
  • Add sugar and lemon juice, mix well and cook for 5 minutes in a low heat.
  • Poha is ready. 
  • Garnish with chopped coriander and peanuts, serve hot.
